as he leans on a shakujou, a traditional pilgrim's staff topped with a ringed finial. An ornate pipe case and tobacco pouch hang at his waist. The inset at upper left shows an actor (possibly Matsumoto Kinsho) as the samurai Genta, a Minamoto warrior.
